As a multiplayer spin-off, Nightreign’s main feature is its three-player co-operative play. Fans are excited about this, though people hoping for a more intimate experience with just two players were disappointed. Developer FromSoftware said they are considering adding official support for two-player play after launch, but some people are taking things into their own hands.

A Modder Has Introduced 2-Player Matches In Elden Ring Nightreign
LukeYui announced in ablog postthat they put together a working multiplayer system that doesn’t need to connect to the game’s matchmaking servers. This allows Nightreign players to play with only two players rather than matchmaking with random people. LukeYui also says this will enable you to “play mods when they are eventually made for more replayability and customisation.”
“I haven’t comitted [sic] to making this a public mod as of yet,” they added as a disclaimer. “However if people would like it just let me know and I’d get it release ready. If not, then I’ll just keep it as a WIP project on the side.”

FromSoftware Didn’t Make Demons Souls 2 Because of Sony
In a podcast, Shuhei Yoshida stated that FromSoftware refused to release Demon’s Souls 2 after poor treatment from Sony
Based on the positive feedback this duo mod is receiving, don’t be surprised to see this get a public release in the near future. Again, developer FromSoftware said they overlooked demand for a standalone two-player option, so there’s apparent demand for the feature.
