Characters inElden Ring Nightreignall have their specialties when in combat, and what weapons they’re going to excel with are going to be specific to what their stats are. When considering a character to start playing right away, you can’t go wrong with Wylder. Wylder is a strong jack of all trades, not being too weak in any one area while still not being overly strong in others.
Elden Ring: 10 Best Weapons To Dual Wield
Dual-wielding in Elden Ring changes the way players approach the game. It’s a high-damage, high-risk playstyle with pletny of aura.
Wylder’s Abilities
This character’s abilities reflect his all-rounder status, making him a solid character in any scenario.
Ability Name
Description
Sixth Sense
Cheat death a single time. This ability can only be used once until restored through revival from death or passing through a Site of Grace.
Passive Ability
Launch a grappling Claw to rope foes in or move swiftly by retracting. Whether targets can be roped in or not depends on enemy physique. Effective at breaking guard. Hold to aim.
Character Skill
Onslaught Stake
Powerful single attack that launches an iron stake with a great explosion. Recoil causes one to reel back, but reserves a portion of Ultimate Art gauge. Hold to boost impact and remain standing.
Ultimate Art
These three abilities are the core of how Wylder plays while taking on his foes. He can pull enemies towards him or evade danger with his Character Skill, Claw Shot. This is a powerful tool that can be used to gain a solid advantage while you’re on the offensive or defensive. Pairing this with his Ultimate Art, the Onslaught Strike, you can pull yourself into position against bosses and hit them with this powerful ability. If you just tap the button for the ultimate attack, you’ll be pushed back, but you will retain some of the meter to use again. However, if you hold the input for the attack, Wylder will be able to brace himself to deal even more damage with the ability without being knocked back.
While his abilities don’t do much in the sense of overwhelming damage to enemies or support for your allies, they do enable you to constantly reposition in fights. This keeps you safe, and if an enemy is focused on you, it only makes it easier for your fellow allies to take them down without worry of being attacked as well.

Weapon Priority
Even though Wylder isn’t particularly weak in most categories, you’ll still want to stick with his preferred weapons.
While he is great at using almost every type of melee weapon, you may want to use his preferred weapon, the Greatsword. With his stats in particular, with an A in Strength and a B in Dexterity, you’ll be able to make great use of what the weapons in the category have to offer. If you’re not getting the best luck with weapon drops and one of the higher-tier variants of the Straight Swords or Colossal Swords drop, you can use these with ease as well. Wylder’s stats are more geared towards Greatswords, but they do allow for some use with other weapon types.
The only weapons you’ll want to avoid, as they won’t be the best, will be sorcery and faith weapons. Wylder’s specialty is being good with melee weapons, and his spell-casting stats are in the C tier. Spells aren’t going to be something he’ll be able to excel with, and you’ll want to stick with focusing on getting him melee gear.

When it comes to shields, what you can find will depend on RNG and your preference for what you’re looking for. His starter shield can be upgraded via materials you find in mines and can be bought at a vendor. Wylder’s Small Shield is a fantastic choice to keep throughout your runs due to its parry ability. If you’re comfortable parrying your enemies, it is one of the strongest options you’ll have in your kit.
Talisman and Relic Priorities
Talismans will provide you with some extra stats and are an important part of each build.
Since Talismans are going to be dropped at random and are RNG-based, you are never guaranteed the best of the best. However, if you do end up running into them often in a run, you’ll want to keep an eye out for some that will increase your base attack power, poise, or stamina regeneration. If you’re using the ideal weapons for Wylder, you’ll want to bolster their use with these stats in particular. Increasing attack is always a good choice with any melee class, but stamina is another great option to allow faster recovery and give you extra attack or evasion opportunities.
The last set of things to consider for him will be your Relics, which allow a lot of freedom and guarantee some stat bonuses you’ll bring into each run. These vary greatly, but bringing ones that increase your Ultimate Art or Character Skill cooldowns will aid him greatly. These can always be different per player and whittle down to how you play the game and what will help you out the most if you’re struggling or seek more power with your stats.

Wylder is going to be a character that will allow you to play at a level that balances both offense and defense greatly. They do say a jack of all trades is a master of none, but Wylder provides a nice blanket that will cover your bases within the game. He has answers to quickly position and get out of danger, charging headfirst into the fray, and having a great set of starting gear to bring into a fight.
