After starring alongside each other in Christopher Nolan’s 2010 film,Inception,Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy once again shared the screen in the 2015 action dramaThe Revenant.Based on the 2002 novel of the same name, the movie follows a legendary frontiersman, Hugh Glass, trying to survive in the wilderness, after being abandoned by his hunting crew, to avenge his son. Unlike the 2010 movie,The Revenantfeatured the Hollywood stars against each other.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s2015 action drama features a grizzly bear attack onLeonardo DiCaprio’scharacter, Hugh Glass. After this, the group of frontiersmen decides to leave him with a few men so that he can be laid to rest in peace after his demise.

John Fitzgerald, portrayed byTom Hardy, however, decides to wrap things up quickly and kills Glass’ son and buries him in a makeshift grave, which leads to the rivalry between Glass and Fitzgerald. While theInceptionco-stars do not feel the same about each other, Hardy claimed that he had no issues leaving the Oscar-winning actor in the hole.

“Well, it was very simple,”he said as he talked about filming the scene before adding,“I just left him in a hole. The rest is history.”DiCaprio also quipped in, saying that one specific sequence was even more enjoyable for his co-star.

“Come to think of it, that burial sequence was your extra little fun. You were like, ‘extra dirt on his face, man,”theShutter Islandstar added. However, unlike their on-screen characters, they have continued to be good friends and have said they’re cool with each other.

It received 12 nominations at the 88th Academy Awards, including for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. The 48-year-old American actor also won his first Oscar for the 2015 movie.

TheMad Maxstar also landed his first Oscar nomination forThe Revenant,and he has shared that it would not have been possible without DiCaprio. During an interview, Hardy shared thatThe Departedactor was the one who told him about the movie and advised him to take the role before accepting any other offer.
