There isn’t much we know about theMarvel Phase ThreeadventureCaptain Marvelquite yet, although directorJames Gunnrevealedearlier this month that the characterwon’t appear in hisGuardians of the Galaxy 2sequel. If a new unconfirmed rumor is true, we may be seeingCaptain Marvelmuch sooner than that anyway.Latino Review’s El Mayimbe is reporting that the character has already been cast, and will have a brief cameo appearance inAvengers: Age of Ultron, arriving in theaters May 1. Here’s what he had to say below.

“HOT #MARVEL #RUMOR ABOUT #CAPTAINMARVEL #SPOILER Apparently, from what I’m being told, the rumor is that the studio has cast the role of Carol Danvers & keeping it top secret. I’m also being told we will first see her in #AVENGERS #AgeofUltron as originally written in previous drafts of the screenplay. In terms of the standalone film, the Marvel brain trust has blocked out the plot & story with the intention of bringing an established writer to write the script. Comic writerKelly Sue DeConnickwanted to take a crack at writing the screenplay but I’m not sure if she got the gig. Also, I’m told legendary comic writerJim Starlin, who has a rich history withCaptain Marvelis aboard the project as a consultant. All of the above is #UNCONFIRMED so take with grain of salt until further notice but it’s within the realm of plausibility.”

It has been long rumored thatAvengers: Age of Ultronends with Captain America (Chris Evans) forming a new team of superheroes. If these reports are true, the new Avengers are Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), with The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), The Vision (Paul Bettany) and War Machine (Don Cheadle).Captain Marvelis the only member of the team that hasn’t been established in previousMarvelmovies, but her stand alone adventure was given a August 26, 2025 release date at the studio’s press event back in October.
