As fans eagerly wait for the release ofShadow of the Erdtree, players who have been enjoyingElden Ringhave been coming up with interests ways in which the game’s endings, characters, and overall lore have been speculated. This one theory in particular serves as a lovely knot between different FromSoftware games.

Two years ago, a Reddit post caught the attention of the community, as the user made a connection between the game’s different endings and linked it to how other games in the universe might bring everything together.
Note: Possible spoilers forElden Ring.
How the multiple endings in Elden Ring link to different games by FromSoftware
When user theodis09 made a simpleconnectionbetweenElden Ring’sdifferent endings, the community applauded. Not just because it made perfect sense, but also how it leaves an open-ended mark on how you perceive the other games. Let’s go one by one.
First to be considered is the Age of Stars ending, where the player lets Ranni rule the world by forming her own order and putting an end to the Golden Order. We’re not sure what this new order is called, but it feels like a redeeming arc for Ranni the Witch. The best part is how parts of this narrative eventually connect toBloodborne, where the player hunts through a world taken over by a mysterious plague.

Then comes the Frenzied Flame, an ending that sees the player playing with fire a bit more than they should. Ideally, this ending ensures that the world is burnt up, and one of the instances sees the player hold the title of Lord of Chaos. Is this the end? Or, just the beginning? That’s up for you to speculate.
What matters is how much it relates to events inDark Souls, where players are tasked with rekindling the flame that reunites the world’s order from chaos.

Finally, the user makes a connection betweenElden Ring’sDestined Death ending withDemon Souls. In this ending, players essentially play a big role in ridding the world of immortality, ensuring the cycle of life and death faces a major change. It’s interesting how this links toDemon Souls, one of the earliest games where FromSoftware experimented with the very mechanics of how life and death work.
The shared universes might as well be official at this point
Similar to how Remedy Entertainment is known for building different worlds where things somewhat connect and make sense, FromSoftware too shows the potential for the same. Who knows, maybe we will get an officially connected universe someday.
After all, there are enough stories, characters, lore pieces, and more that serve a butterfly effect; showing connectivity despite different universes and narratives. Games likeAlan WakeandControloften share a bizarre world that measures the depths of one’s psyche, and challenges players to be a part of something that feels larger than life.

Similarly, games by FromSoftware ask players to go against obstacles and entities that make them feel utterly small yet large at the same time. That itself is an interesting way of connecting different plotlines in a way that feels familiar yet fresh.
In a way, that would make for a great backdrop for a shared universe. What do you think of the theory and how it makes a connection between different games? Let us know in the comments below.
