The side quest “Put a Spring in Thy Step” inDragon’s Dogma 2is available once you make your way to Volcanic Island. A man by the name ofGautstafrwill be seen in the middle of the path shortly after you leaveDrabnir’s Grotto.
Finding Three Wildflowers
Gautstafr will be in the middle of the path in pain due to his back. He’ll ask you to bring himthree wildflowersso that he may make a remedy for his aching back. Search the nearby area as there are a few strewn about nearby for you to give to the poor dwarf. He will thank you for the trouble and will feel much better after getting the remedy for his back.
Visit Gautstafr’s Home for a Reward
The next step is to visit Gautstafr at his home. It’s just north of where you found him. Keep following the path and take the left route when the road forks. When you arrive at his house, you’ll get some brief dialogue between him and his wife. Gautstafr will go to get your reward and throw out his back once again, and he makes a note that his best bet for a more permanent solution is to make for the Curative Spring. At this point, Gautstafr and his wife are at a standstill about what to do. That is where you can offer to escort him to the Curative Spring.
Escort Gautstafr to the Geyser Hamlet
What you need to do now is escort Gautstafr to where he wishes to go. Do be careful though, as his back is still in pain, and he needs you to stop running regularly so that he doesn’t hurt himself. There will be monsters along the path to the Geyser Hamlet, so you’ll have to keep Gautstafr safe as well as help him avoid hurting his back.
There are a few possible paths to take. If you do take the waterside path, do be mindful. In my own playthrough, I was ambushed by an ogre and it most certainly caught me off-guard while escorting Gautstafr. Gautstafr will keep his distance, but you can’t be too careful when it comes to characters getting killed in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Once you get to theVolcanic Island Campyou just need to head south into the camp for Gautstafr to reach the spring. The camp is not hostile, so Gautstafr and your crew will be safe from any attacks. Make way to the springs, and you’ll be met with some more dialogue from Gautstafr. His wife will also follow you to the Volcanic Island Camp and will speak with you as well.

You will receive theMagick Archer vocation, Gautstafr will now be available as ablacksmithfor you, and you also receive23,000 goldfor escorting the dwarf to the springs to remedy his old bones.
