Dehydration Takes Its Toll

Life on Arrakis is unforgiving. NPC inhabitants of the planet account for 58% of player deaths in the beta. The next biggest threat is the massive sandworms (27%), closely followed by dehydration (22%). Only 2% of players who spent over 10 hours in the beta managed to avoid dying entirely.

“Every drop of liquid is precious on Arrakis,” the studio reminds players. During the beta, approximately 1.5 million liters of blood were harvested from enemies and creatures, including a hundred muad’dibs—the desert mice.

Players can recycle their sweat and waste to obtain water. However, using blood as a water source is a last resort, as it reduces maximum health. The safest approach is to transport this resource back to a base and purify it using a machine to produce clean water.
