Atarihas revealed the release window for Fatal Run 2089. Along with a new gameplay trailer, the company announced that the upcoming new rendition of the post-apocalyptic vehicle action game will be available during Fall 2025. It’ll be possible to dive into the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
Explosive Driving
Fatal Run is a classic action game that Atari published back in 1990 on the Atari 2600 and 7800. In the game, players have to drive through a post-apocalyptic environment and fight against other cars. Rather than just racing through the 32 areas, players had to distribute a radiation vaccine to major cities, get a satellite launch code and destroy enemy cars that try to get in the way.
6 Racing Games with the Best Exploration
These racing games go beyond the track, offering vast open worlds that reward exploration just as much as speed and competition.
The new game, Fatal Run 2089, reimagines this concept for a modern audience with Brazilian group MNSTR Studio working on its development. UsingUnreal Engine 5, the studio promises high speed and a variety of areas from distinct points of the post-apocalyptic world. There will be four landscapes with 20 levels with branching paths and hidden shortcuts as well as bosses that promise to be a challenging experience for action fans.

It’s up to the player to pick between seven different vehicles, each of which has different performance and stats. Some may be lighter, allowing players to move faster through the environments and dodge enemies easier, while others may be bulkier, making them sturdier for direct conflict. It won’t be possible to change them in the middle of the road, however, so choosing wisely is advisable.
There are four co-pilots to choose from, and their skills affect the player’s options during the racing sessions. Their personalities are different as well, which should some slight variations to the narrative aspect of the adventure. As it’s possible to see in the new video, the story portion has some “visual novel”-like scenes along with the racing and other gameplay portions.

Racing to Save the World From a Catastrophic Future
In Fatal Run 2089, a comet has fallen on Earth and radiation has taken over the atmosphere of the planet. A new world order with various factions has replaced the current world order, and they now thrive as a new elite thanks to the messy situation of the world.
The player assumes the role of an individual recruited by the Engineers to deliver ARCs to major population centers. These objects are a clean energy solution that can restore these places and remove radiation from the atmosphere, but many powerful individuals stand in the player’s way as they want to keep the status quo exactly as it is.

Now it’s up to the player to run as fast as possible and change things with this scientific marvel. The ARCs decay over time, making it important to go as fast as possible to the goal points. Otherwise, it’ll be necessary to go back to the start and play again. According to the officialSteam page, the game has an arcade structure, and it’ll be possible to get randomized upgrades over time.
