WhileFinal Fantasy XIVis primarily known for its story and raid material, one aspect of the game that goes underappreciated is its trade scene. Both Crafting and Gathering have been an integral part of the MMORPG ever since its birth, with players being able to make a pretty Gil by simply interacting with nodes around the world, or crafting the various equipment required to not only progress through the story, but participate in the higher-end content.

What is Cosmic Exploration?
With the latest release of 7.21, players are now able to participate in a huge server-wide activity called Cosmic Exploration. This is somewhat similar to Square Enix’s past ventures into making the crafting and gathering scene a little more enticing.
We originally had modes for Crafting and Gathering such as the Ishgard Restoration included inShadowbringersthat not only repurposed the dead Diadem area fromHeavensward, but introduced Expert Crafting. It was a huge hit among the community, especially thanks to the leaderboards, putting servers up against one another, seeing who could construct The Firmament the fastest. In the end, we were able to get a good number of unique items out of it, along with the construction of a new housing area, Empyreum.
Unfortunately, outside the Ishgard Restoration, not a lot has been done for Crafters and Gatherers outside allied society quests. Thankfully, that changes in the latest update, which introduced a brand-new area for players to grind in.
How to Unlock Cosmic Exploration
In order to unlock Cosmic Exploration, you will need a couple of requirements. First is the completion ofEndwalker. Because this quest takes us to the moon where the Lopporit are, it only makes sense that players actually finish the Endwalker main story quests. Thankfully, you don’t need to get past completing 6.0.
After completing Endwalker, you’ll have to travel to Old Sharlayan and use an Aethernet Shard to teleport toScholar’s Harbor. Here, you’ll find a lost little Lopporit,Namingway (X: 12.6 Y:13.6). He will hold the quest A Cosmic Homecoming. This takes us to the next requirement: level. Thankfully, you won’t need to be a high level to participate in the Cosmic Exploration, but instead only need to speed tolevel 10in any Crafting or Gathering class. This will literally take a couple of minutes to obtain if you’re new.
After that, talk to Namingway, and he will send you on a short adventure to get your first Cosmic Prototype main hand starting at level 10. With this, you’ll need to participate in the variousFATEs, Stellar Missions and Mech Opsto obtain experience and currency. This will be used to upgrade your gear, buy various items from the shop, and, just like The Firmament, play a mini-game to hopefully get some cool rewards.
