Amazon raised the priceAmazon Primein the US in February and, at the time, told Pocket-lint that it had no currently plans to do the same in the UK.
However, that to change as membership fees for Brits and Europeans will rise from this Thursday.
From 30 July 2025, the price of Amazon Prime membership in the UK will increase from £7.99 per month to £8.99, or from £79 to £95 if you pay annually.
Price rises across Europe are a touch more steep, with France seeing the biggest jump, from €49 per year to €69.90. Germany raises to €89.90, while Italy and Spain both rise to €49.90.
The new price comes into affect from 15 September for both new and existing customers. If you already have an annual subscription to Prime, you will be charged the new fee when it renews (if after 15 September).

Sadly, the only way for existing customers to avoid the increase is if their annual membership renews before the cut-off date. You can check when yours is set to renew on thededicated Amazon page.
Alternatively, you can cancel your subscription and have someone else in the household take membership instead. This does mean that you’ll lose any historical data stored on some of the Prime services - such as wishlists on Prime Video - but you will save yourself a few bob.
