Monster Hunter World released earlier this year on Xbox One and Playstation 4, with the PC version hitting Steam today. It seems the game has not dwindled in popularity as fans have broken Steam history with setting a new record.

Monster Hunter World Releases On PC Breaking Steam Records for Biggest Japanese Launch

MHW has become Steam’s biggest release of the year with the number of concurrent players. As the game was released on the platform, it reached it’s peak today of 239,779 players (according toSteamCharts) reaching the top 10 most-concurrently played game in Steam’s history.

This is the biggest PC release for Capcom in the history of its games, even surpassingDark Souls 3in terms of the size of it’s launch for a Japanese publisher which had 129,831 concurrent players in March 2016. It just goes to show that MHW has still held fans' interest even seven months after it’s console release.

Before MHW’s release, the game that held the biggest numbers for day-one concurrent players wasKingdom Come: Deliverancewhich had almost 96,000 players. Another popular JRPG wasFinal Fantasy 15which only peaked at 29,729 on it’s Steam debut.

Monster Hunter Worldis now playable on PS4, Xbox One with the latest platform PC via Steam.
