Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Release Date and More

The marketing push forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2is in full swing, with a seemingly constant stream of updates from Insomniac. The tightrope of drip-feeding information to the masses to whip fans into a frenzy without the game’s entire story being leaked/figured out is a difficult exercise for any studio, let alone one pushing arguably the PS5’s biggest release so far.

We’re now in a position to be able to count down to the exact day now, with Insomniac finally announcing at Summer Game Fest thatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2will be swinging onto consoles onOctober 20th, 2023!Of course before this announcement we knew the rough release of ‘Fall 2023’, but with a concrete date we’re now able to allow ourselves to get fully excited, the closer it gets!

Thankfully the PlayStation Showcase put an end to a long absence of new information for the game, and we can finally see an example of what we have in store for us and what we can look forward to.

Fans were well aware that Venom and the symbiote were to play a huge part in the sequel, with the Tony Todd voiced antihero/villain being the focal point of the 2021 announcement trailer, however fans couldn’t have predicted just how big a part the symbiote looks to play.

With the showcase announcement trailer featuring a symbiote-suit-wearing Peter Parker, fans were sent into a frenzy at the revelation we’ll be taking control of the titular hero during arguably one of his most difficult and traumatizing moments of his superhero career. How long we end up playing as the black suit Parker is anyone’s guess, and some even theorise that he may well end up as this universe’s Venom, which would certainly be controversial, but that is incredibly unlikely.

During the Summer Game Fest the question was asked who this universe’s Venom is, and whilst we didn’t get a concrete answer, we at least now know it’s not going to be Eddie Brock. With the post-credit scene of the first game heavily hinting at the symbiote being involved with Harry, is it just a bait-and-switch, or do we already know the answer?

More information about the game will continue to trickle down the grapevine, so be sure to keep an eye out for more coverage! What are you most excited for inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2?
