First, we have a rare Horror anime coming up, which is an adaptation of legendary mangaka Junji Ito’s early works, Uzumaki. There have been attempts in the past to adapt his work into an anime, such as with the live action Uzumaki film released in 2000, but this is the first time we get to see his work adapted in an anime form that seemingly flawlessly replicates his terrifying manga art style. One day as she heads to the station to meet her boyfriend Shuuichi Saito, she encounters his father mesmerized by a spiral snail shell. Later she mentions it to Shuuichi, who confides in her about his wish to leave Kurouzu-cho, believing that a curse revolving around spirals has completely taken over.

#9 - Dandadan

Up next is another supernatural anime that is also adapted from an incredibly well-received 2021 Shounen Jump manga known as Dandadan. The ongoing story has been known for its unique blend of horror, comedy, and supernatural elements and received an official trailer around a month ago in March. It’s being animated by Science SARU, who are known for their incredibly unique animation style in projects such as Devilman Crybaby, a perfect fit for the eccentric nature of the manga with its quirky characters and grotesque world. The anime is set to release later this year, inOctober 2024.

After 13 years since the last season, Kimi ni Todoke is finally getting a follow-up Netflix anime adapting the remaining parts of the manga. The romance anime has been on hiatus for quite a while with the North American license being passed around from Funimation to Netflix in 2023. The manga is a best seller, commonly ranked in listings of top-selling manga in Japan, with Anime News Network dubbing the series “one of the best new English-translated manga series of 2009”. Animated by Production I.G, the series is in good hands given its amazing history with the Evangelion movie and Haikyu!!, with a planned release date ofAugust 2024.
