With Winter of 2024 now over, concluding the amazing fantasy animeFrieren: Beyond Journey’s Endand starring other great anime likeMashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2, andSolo Leveling, many people may be wondering what the rest of the year has in store for us. In this article, we will be exploring the top 10 biggest titles confirmed to be coming out this year in 2024, featuring many sequels and a few new titles.
#10 - Uzumaki
First, we have a rare Horror anime coming up, which is an adaptation of legendary mangaka Junji Ito’s early works, Uzumaki. This psychological horror manga was released over 2 decades ago in 1998, and was critically acclaimed as one of the scariest horror mangas around at the time. There have been attempts in the past to adapt his work into an anime, such as with the live action Uzumaki film released in 2000, but this is the first time we get to see his work adapted in an anime form that seemingly flawlessly replicates his terrifying manga art style. Needless to say, if you enjoy horror anime, this should definitely be on your radar.
In the town of Kurouzu-cho, Kirie Goshima is a student leading a simple life. One day as she heads to the station to meet her boyfriend Shuuichi Saito, she encounters his father mesmerized by a spiral snail shell. Later she mentions it to Shuuichi, who confides in her about his wish to leave Kurouzu-cho, believing that a curse revolving around spirals has completely taken over.
The peculiar obsession with spirals in the town quickly takes a turn for the worse, triggering a series of horrifying events that gradually plunge the residents of Kurouzu-cho into fear and madness.
#9 - Dandadan
Up next is another supernatural anime that is also adapted from an incredibly well-received 2021 Shounen Jump manga known as Dandadan. The ongoing story has been known for its unique blend of horror, comedy, and supernatural elements and received an official trailer around a month ago in March. It’s being animated by Science SARU, who are known for their incredibly unique animation style in projects such as Devilman Crybaby, a perfect fit for the eccentric nature of the manga with its quirky characters and grotesque world. The anime is set to release later this year, inOctober 2024.
High school students Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura are polar opposites; Momo is a believer in ghosts but a sceptic of aliens, whereas Ken is an alien enthusiast who dismisses the existence of ghosts. In a bet, they both wager that their supernatural beliefs are true, and go out to discover that they were half right; both aliens AND ghosts exist.
Thrown together by these strange events, Momo and Ken embark on a wild journey filled with paranormal encounters. As they delve deeper into this hidden world, they battle a variety of supernatural foes, from vengeful spirits to extraterrestrial beings.
#8 - Kimi ni Todoke Season 3
After 13 years since the last season, Kimi ni Todoke is finally getting a follow-up Netflix anime adapting the remaining parts of the manga. The romance anime has been on hiatus for quite a while with the North American license being passed around from Funimation to Netflix in 2023. The manga is a best seller, commonly ranked in listings of top-selling manga in Japan, with Anime News Network dubbing the series “one of the best new English-translated manga series of 2009”. Animated by Production I.G, the series is in good hands given its amazing history with the Evangelion movie and Haikyu!!, with a planned release date ofAugust 2024.
Season 3 continues the journey of Sawako Kuronuma, a high school girl misunderstood as Sadako from The Ring because of her hairstyle, and her friendly extroverted classmate Kazehaya Shouta. As the spring of their senior year approaches, Sawako and Kazehaya continue to deepen their bond, confronting insecurities and the looming pressures of their graduation.
With their graduation coming quickly, both of them face daunting life-changing decisions about college and careers, striving to maintain the connection they have despite the immense pressure.
#7 -Tower of God Season 2
Following Tower of God from 2020 is Tower of God Season 2, continuing the incredibly popular webtoon series. Back in 2020, the existence of this anime was thought to mark the beginning of webtoon anime adaptations becoming more commonplace, as the webtoon landscape is rich with good stories and artists that could work incredibly in anime. Now, 4 years later, we are finally getting the continuation of the webtoon comic adaptation forJuly 2024, this time with a new studio, Answer Studio.
After Rachel’s unforeseen betrayal, the story now takes place six years after the first season. Bam, presumed dead, resurfaces with a new identity and purpose, driven by the betrayal of his best and only friend, Rachel.
As Bam trains under the tutelage of FUG, a secretive organization opposed to the Tower’s ruling powers, he has to come to terms with his inner turmoil and the truth of his origins. Meanwhile, the friends he left behind continue their ascent, each step mired in challenges that test their limits and bonds.
#6 -Re:ZERO Season 3
Known as one of, if not the best Isekai anime ever, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World is coming back this year with a season 3, continuing from the events of Season 2 Part 2 from 2021, which featured the end of the Sanctuary arc. The anime will be released in theFall of 2024with rumours that it will feature a 3-cour season with more than 35 episodes, with Arcs 5 and 6 from the light novel being adapted.
A year has passed since the battle against the Great Rabbit and the fierce assault of Elsa’s group that attempted to liberate the Sanctuary that Beatrice was contracted to. Emilia’s group has been working together for the King’s Selection, but while Natsuki Subaru has spent his days relaxing, a letter from a messenger signals the end of the peace.
It’s a letter from one of the King’s Selection candidates, Anastasia, inviting Emilia to one of Lugunica’s Five Major Cities — the floodgate city of Pristella. Accepting the invitation, Subaru’s party dives headfirst into the political landscape, heading to Pristella. Evil intentions stir beneath the surface; a crisis of unprecedented levels lurks around the corner.
#5 - Oshi no Ko Season 2
After only a year since the first season finished, we are already getting a sequel to the insanely popular Idol anime Oshi no Ko, following the story of a doctor and his deceased patient being reborn as twins destined to become famous Japanese pop idols. Along with the great opening episode in the season, the opening song for season 1 completely blew expectations by becoming the first-ever original Japanese song to top Billboard’s Global Excl. US music chart. With season 2, all we know is that the studio and production are the same, although we aren’t sure if Yoasobi will be performing again. Fans of the series can expect the release this year inJuly 2024.
After the dramatic events of the first season, Aqua’s journey of vengeance and exploration into the idol industry progresses further. The new season is expected to adapt the 2.5D Stage Play Arc and Private Arc from the manga, which begins preparation and rehearsals for the stage play adaptation of “Tokyo Blade” and unveils further mysteries about Aqua’s father.
Aqua strategically navigates the industry’s various obstacles with his calculated charm, aiming to dismantle the superficial facade of showbiz, while Ruby’s raw talent requires her to confront the harsh realities behind the scenes.
#4 - Kaijuu 8-gou
An upcoming new anime that you may want to look out for is Kaijuu 8-Gou, based on a 2020 Manga inspired by the kaiju genre. Interestingly, if you want to catch the world premiere, you may watch the anime stream from the official KaijuNo8_O Twitter account onApr 13th, 2024and every subsequent week. Even more interestingly, the ending theme is being made by One Republic, and the opening is co-written by Dan Reynolds from Imagine Dragons. If big monster films like Godzilla are your thing, you should keep an eye out for this one when it comes out!
Kafka Hibino is a man who dreams of joining the elite Defense Force to combat the gigantic monsters plaguing Japan known as Kaijuu. So instead, Kafka works for a clean-up crew, disposing of the kaiju remains after battles.
Kafka’s life takes a dramatic turn when a small kaiju merges with him, granting him the power to transform into a kaiju himself. This newfound ability reignites his desire to join the Defense Force, even if he has to conceal his kaiju powers. #3 - My Hero Academia Season 7
After a year of enduring the extreme cliffhanger that season 6 left My Hero Academia on, we are getting a season 7 this year starting fromMay 4th,2024. Before that though, you can watch the four-part series titled My Hero Academia Memories to get a recap of the most iconic moments of the series so far, as well as some scenes to set up the new season. With an overall darker theme that has been progressively intensified with each season, we are in for a treat!

#2 - Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc
Following the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc now comes the Hashira Training Arc, a season dedicated to the final preparation before the ultimate showdown. Many have already seen the movie back in February in theatres, but the anime will likely be expanding on the events of the training arc. This arc will be the final season of Demon Slayer, after which the franchise will release 3 movies covering the Final Arc. The season will begin releasing this year onMay 12, 2024.

#1 - Konosuba Season 3
The last and most anticipated anime on this list based on MyAnimeList rankings is KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3, which has already begun releasing and is finally continuing the anime after its long 5-year gap from the Legend of Crimson movie. There not much to say except to expect peak comedy from the dysfunctional party, and an amazing time throughout.
After becoming disillusioned with his life as an adventurer, Kazuma contemplates becoming a monk, but Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness are not convinced. Their routine life as a dysfunctional party is interrupted when a princess invites them to tell their tales of adventure at her royal castle, leading to a series of events that could cement their bond or mark the end of their journey together.
