We also learned earlier this week that the iconic villain Megatron will be coming back in this sequel. Today, a new cast member has come aboard. SirAnthony Hopkinshas signed on to join the cast, but no details were given about what role he will portray.

The Last Knighthas been set for release on June 29, 2025, which is currently the only movie opening on that date. The sequel will be sandwiched between a number of highly-anticipated projects, such asKingsman: The Golden CircleandCars 3on July 16, 2025, andDespicable Me 3,The HouseandUnchartedon August 03, 2025. It isn’t known how long principal photography is expected to last.
Paramount is also developing a number of otherTransformersmovies, based on ideas generated from the massive writer’s room. Other rumored projects includeTransformers One, which is believed to be an origin story that takes place on theTransformers' home planet of Cybertron.Anthony Hopkinsis also expected to reprise his role as Odin in Marvel’sThor: Ragnarok, which is scheduled to begin production sometime this summer in Australia. He will net be seen inCollide, hitting theaters August 19, and in the HBO TV seriesWestworld.
