Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have announced the development ofSpace Marine 3, the next installment in the saga based on Games Workshop’s IP, along with its first teaser image.
The First Glimpse of Space Marine 3
No one expected it (this soon), but here it is. Saber Interactive, the developers of Space Marine 2, have confirmed that they are already working on the next entry in the franchise alongside Games Workshop and Focus Entertainment.Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3is now official.
Just days after addressing concerns about turningSpace Marine 2into a live-service game, the team has confirmed that the third installment in the shooter series is already in development.
While it’s still too early to discuss the story, gameplay innovations, or improvements over the 2024 title, the first teaser image has already been revealed.
Titus looks relentless alongside the logo for the third installment. It’s just a teaser (which also has a 15-second video version), but it has already sent Games Workshop fans into a frenzy.
“Today, we are pleased to announce that the adventure will continue with Space Marine 3. Players will experience an immersive campaign, multiplayer mode, and innovations that will redefine the standards of third-person action games.”
Space Marine 3 is being developed by Saber Interactive, the same team behind the second game, and will once again be published by Focus Entertainment—likely for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
A few months ago, Games Workshop expressed pride in the positive reception of Space Marine 2, which has sold over 5 million copies and holds an 83 Metacritic score. They also hinted at the search for their next big success.
All signs point to Space Marine 3 being just that, especially if it retains the solid foundation of its predecessor while introducing necessary gameplay and technical improvements.
Bigger Battles and New Features
“Developed in close collaboration with Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 will take the genre to new heights by delivering even more spectacular large-scale battles,” said John Bert, Deputy CEO of Focus Entertainment.
While more details are yet to come, this third installment will feature a new campaign playable solo or in co-op (for up to four players), online multiplayer, and additional modes such as Operations, Horde, and more.
“Space Marine 2 has been a transformative game for Saber. It represents the culmination of everything we have learned over 25 years of game development.”
“Now, we are beginning work on Space Marine 3, a game that carries massive expectations from our growing fan base. While we will continue to support and expand Space Marine 2 in the coming years, we will apply everything we’ve learned to create an even bigger and more spectacular third installment.”
Saber has also promised continued content updates for Space Marine 2 in the coming months and years, including the Horde mode, following an ambitious roadmap.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3is now in development, presumably for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, though it is unlikely to launch in 2025. Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment will reveal more details at a later date.
