Wyatt Russell has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite some time now. Making his debut withFalcon and the Winter Soldier,Russell went from being John Walker; Captain America to John Walker; US Agent. From a villain to a hero; that is not an unknown or an unfamiliar journey for the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Prime examples of that stand with Wanda Maximoff, Loki, the Winter Soldier, and Nebula, the list is neverending.

Russell’s journey also complements the same theme, one that is meant to be explored in the upcoming film,Thunderbolts.Serving as what many see as an MCU version of theSuicide Squad,it is a series of morally conflicted characters who team up to save the world. However, one concern that seems to never leave is, will the film even be good?

Wyatt Russell Gives Hope to a Hopeless World

To say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going through a dry patch would be an understatement. Apart from a couple of highlights here and there, there has barely been a project attractive enough to capture the audience’s attention. For a generation that breaks into laughter over watching a slice of bread fall, entertainment is not a difficult task. Yet the franchise has been missing the mark regardless of how thrilling their concepts may seem at first.

“I have confidence it’s gonna be good,”Russell stated. “I know everybody is sort of on this Marvel train right now of things not going so well.”

Wyatt Russell as Captain America

Wyatt Russell, whoseThunderboltsis finally being turned from vision to reality, spoke toThe Hollywood Reporterabout the same. To sing songs of praise without any proper fruit to account for it, Marvel has been going through a rough patch, to say the least. Russell seems to have promise in his work, stating that it could be what everyone is looking for.

To Stand Out and to Be Proud

Wyatt Russell holds full faith in a project fans too have been dearly anticipating. He talked about how the film was unlike what most Marvel films were portrayed as. Speaking withThe Hollywood Reporter,Russell sought out the idea that there is a stark difference betweenThunderboltsand every other Marvel movie that comes out.

“I know parts of the story and how the story works, I can’t talk about it. But it’s not a straightforward Marvel movie as you’ve seen in the past,”he added. “I think that it’s gonna be a lot of fun but I think it will be something that hopefully Marvel fans will look at and go, ‘Oh OK, this is a little different, let’s go hard at it.’ And as far as how we are approaching it, it’s time to go to work a little bit, it’s time to make a good Marvel movie, so let’s do that and work hard at it and don’t take things for granted.”

It may be advertised as one but it would not feel like a Marvel movie. Russell admits that the flaws aren’t something that is being ignored. In fact, they are being better observed in order to make sure the movie does not fail to read the audience.
